Clean Your Appliances With an Earth-Friendly Attitude

June 17th, 2016

Sunrise In SpaceAs you walk down the aisle in nearly any grocery store, you’re greeted by high-priced cleaners that have every chemical mixture possible. Although these chemical combinations are effective, they’re not necessarily good for the Earth. Take a close look at some of the ways that you can clean those appliances without relying on chemicals. The Earth and your health will thank you in the end.

Use a soft rag during your scrubbing process in order to protect the refrigerator’s walls from any scratches. (more…)

Call a washing machine repair expert to get it running right!

1. It Won’t Activate

You load the washer, drop the lid down into position and turn the timer on. This basic activation sequence usually results in an operable washer. However, a faulty lid switch can halt every washing sequence and leave you with dirty clothes. The lid switch tells the washer that it’s safe to operate the drum. Faulty switches simply shut down the timer’s circuits. A professional must replace the switch, so that the washer can work once again. (more…)

Home Appliances Coming Our Way … Eventually

April 8th, 2015

electronic circuit boardIn 1950, General Electric predicted that the 21st century kitchen would have a thermoelectric collapsible refrigerator, an ice and water dispenser, and an automatic plastic dishmaker. For those counting, that’s one out of three successes.

What’s that Smell? Front-Loading Washing Machine Dilemma

November 5th, 2014

image of front-loading washing machineIf you are one of the millions of people loving their front-loading washing machine, the benefits usually outweigh any issues. You’ve been diligent about locking the door during cycles to avoid leaks and loading proper clothing amounts, but a smell has begun to grow along the door gasket. Unlike top-loading washers, this sealing gasket provides a perfect location for mold and mildew to grow, as noted in this Consumer Reports article. These microorganisms create that permeating smell, but you can remove it with some clever cleaning strategies.

Dry it Out

One of the simplest ways to stop that smell is to use the air-dry method. After washing a load, allow the door to remain ajar for air circulation.
